The 2019 McCalla Little League Intermediate All-Stars are headed to the compete in the Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series in Livermore, California after winning the Little League Intermeidate 50/70 World Series U.S. Championship today over the Southwest Region Champions from Roswell, New Mexico by a score of 11 - 1.

McCalla’s trip to the World Series started when they competed in the Southeast Regionals as the Alabama State Champions in Kernersville, NC. between July 19 and 22. In the regionals they defeated Florida in game one 11 - 1, defeated North Carolina in game 2 by a score of 14 - 4, and Georgia in game 3 by a score of 6 -5. They went on to defeat Georgia again in the regional championship game 19 - 2 to become the Little League Intermediate 50/70 SouthEast Champions. From there, they advanced to the Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series in Livermore, California which started on Sunday, July 28. In the first game they defeated the east region 11 - 2. In the second game they defeated the southwest region 20 -8 and in this game Adem Malpass set a Little League Intermediate record by hitting 3 home runs. In the third game they beat the central region by a score of 5 - 4.

Next, they advanced to the Little League Intermeidate 50/70 World Series U.S. Finals today, Saturday, August 3rd where they faced off against the Southwest Region team from Roswell, New Mexico. In the U.S. Finals matchup McCalla got off to a 1 - 0 lead on a double from Drake McBride allowing Tucker Arrington to score. McCalla scored again in the 3rd when Tucker Arrington hit a fly ball to right filed brining home Aden Malpass. In the 4th they scored 5 runs the first on a single from Camden Prothro brining home Brody Stacey, the second on a single from Ty Stricklin allowing Noah Smith to score. Camden Prothro scored the 3rd run in the 4th on an error. Ty Stricklin made the 4th score of the inning on a fly ball by Aden Malpass, and Aden Malpass made the 5th score of the inning on an error. McCalla Two score two more runs in the 5th off a single from Tucker Arrington allowing Cooper Walls and Camden Prothro to score. The southwest team managed to score one run in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 9 - 1. In the 6th the boys from McCalla scored two more times once on a single from Noah Smith allowing Joseph Roberto to come home and the other on a double from Camden Protho bringing home Noah Smith. Tucker Arrington was the winning pitcher allowing only one hit and striking out ten. The final score of the Little League Intermeidate 50/70 World Series U.S. Championship game was Southeast 11 - Southwest 1.

McCalla will go on to represent the U.S. in the Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series on Sunday, August 4th against Mexico Region winners who won the International Championship defeating Asia-Pacific Region by a score of 8 - 4. The Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series Championship will be aired on ESPN2 and ESPN Plus. at 8 pm central on Sunday.
