In the annual rivalry game, the 6a Hueytown Golden Gophers defeated the 6a Bessemer City Purple Tigers 57 - 6. The stars of the game for The Bessemer City Purple Tigers were Whittsetts with 86 yards rushing and a touchdown and 9 completions for 54 yards and Reco Williams with 8 tackles. The stars of the game for The Hueytown Golden Gophers were Earl Woods with 8 completions for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns and 7 rushes for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns, De’andre Coleman with 6 receptions for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns, Elijah Hudson with 3 rushes for 17 yards and a touchdown, Jebron Ellington with 2 rushes for 62 yards and a touchdown. The loss for Bessemer City drops their overall record to (0 - 3). Next, in another regional game, the Purple Tigers will host the 6a (3 - 0) Northridge Jaguars at home. Bessemer Academy Rebels

The Bessemer Academy Rebels defeated the Monroe Academy Volunteers at home 26 - 8. The stars of the game for the Bessemer Academy Rebels were Matt Massingill with 4 completions for 42 yards and a touchdown and a rushing touchdown, Samad Muhammad with 20 rushes for 166 yards and three touchdowns, JT Davis with 2 receptions for 22 yards, Tyrae Tate and Tanner Weeks with 7 tackles, and DJ Harris, Matthew Mason, and Trevor Hill with 6 tackle. The win improves Bessemer Academy’s overall record to (1 - 1). Next, the Rebels will face rival (1 - 1)) Tuscaloosa Academy Knights. This game pits former Bessemer Academy Coach Josh Wright, who is now the coach of Tuscaloosa, against his younger brother Jonathan Wright, the new head coach of Bessemer Academy.

McAdory Yellow Jackets

The 6a McAdory Yellow Jackets defeated the 6a Homewood Patriots at home 45 - 18. The stars of the game for McAdory were Cam Shepherd with 20 completions for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns, Jabari Strait with 9 receptions for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns, Rod Thomas with 14 rushes for 110 yards, Peyton Ryans with 12 rushes for 69 yards, and a touchdown, Kristian Merrriit with 5 receptions for 33 yards, JaCorey Whitted with 4 receptions for 32 yards and Jacob Clopton with a touchdown. The win improves McAdory’s overall record to (3 - 0). Next, the Yellow Jackets will be going on the road to face the 6a (0 - 3) Paul Bryant Stampede. 

Midfield Patriots 

The 2a Midfield Patriots won on the road in their first regional game against the Lamar County Bulldogs 28 - 24. The stars of the game for Midfield Patriots were Anthony Johnson with 10 completions for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown, Kendrick Thomas 12 rushes for 85 yards and a touchdown, Demarrious Jackson with 3 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, and 8 tackles, Anthony Walker with 1 touchdown, Juan Bryant with 12 tackles. The win improves Midfield’s record to 2 - 0. Next, the Patriots will host the 2a (3 - 0) Addison Bulldogs in a regional game. 

Pleasant Grove Spartans

The Pleasant Grove Spartans defeated the Cordova Blue Devils on the road 46 - 18. The stars of the game for the Pleasant Grove Spartans were Alex Young with 9 completions for 193 yards and 4 touchdowns and 6 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown, Demarcus Lacey with 4 rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown and 2 receptions for 65 yards, and a touchdown, Cam Harris with 2 receptions for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns, Kyron Burroughs with 2 rushes for 40 yards, DeShawn Love with a receiving touchdown and Markell Jordan with a 55-yard interception for a touchdown. The win improves Pleasant Grove’s record to (1 - 1). Next, the Spartans will go on the road to face the 5a (0- 3) Wenonah Dragons.

Fairfield Tigers

The 5a Fairfield Tigers loss on the road to the Parker Thundering Herd 30 - 40. The Tigers had 532 total yards, which included 292 yards passing and 240 yards rushing. The stars of the game for the Fairfield Tigers were Eric Handley with 15 completions for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns and 4 rushes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Hezekiah Hudson-Davis with 19 rushes for 108 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Pearson with 6 rushes for 49 yards. Ja’Kobi Albert with 4 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown and 2 rushes for 32 yards, Jabari Bennett with 3 rushes for 13 yards and a touchdown and 3 receptions for 87 yards and an interception, and Quintin House with 2 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Kidd with 6 tackles and Zamariane Tate with 4 tackles. The loss drops Fairfield’s overall record to (1 - 1). West Blocton Tigers

The 4a West Blocton Tigers vs. 4a Sumter Central Jaguars game was canceled by Sumter Central due to Covid. West Blocton gets the forfeit win and improves their record to (3 - 0). Next, the West Blocton Tigers will host the 4a (1 - 2) Holt Ironmen in a regional matchup.

Brookwood Panthers

The 6a Brookwood Panthers lost at home against the Hillcrest Tuscaloosa Patriots 16 - 49. The loss drops Brookwood’s overall record to (0 - 3). Next, the Panthers will go on the road to face the 6a (2 -1 )) Hueytown Golden Gophers. 

Oak Grove Tigers

The Oak Grove Tigers were shut out on the road against the Gordo Green Wave 0 - 45. The loss drops Oak Grove’s overall record to (0 - 3

 0). Next, the Tigers will host the 4a (3 - 0) Hamilton Aggies.

John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers

The 5a John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers defeated the Carver-Birmingham Rams 14 - 6. The stars of the game for the John Carrol Cavaliers were Carson McFadden with 9 completions for 73 yards and two touchdowns, both to Christian Harper. The win improves John Carroll’s overall record to (2 - 1)). Next, the Cavaliers will host the 5a (2 - 1) Cordova Blue Devils.
