The Hueytown Dixie Majors 19U Allstars were crowned 2019 Dixie Majors Alabama State Champions for the second year in a row defeating Bellingrath in 2 games in a best out of 3 game series in Ozark, Alabama. Hueytown won the first game of the series 7- 1 on Friday, July 12, Hueytown got the scoring off on a grounded out by Jace Evans forcing a run. The big inning for Hueytown was the 6th inning as Ethan Leatherman, Cole Edwards and Josh Owen all drove in runs. Landon Moore got the victory pitching five innings allowing only one hit, no runs, and seven strikeouts. Luke Nolen came in for relief in the sixth inning. Landon Moore, Josh Owen, Payne Knight, Ethan Letherman and Cole Edwards each racked up one hit in the game. The second game was played on Saturday, July 13 and Hueytown dominated winning 11 - 1. In the first inning, Hueytown scored twice once on a triple by Reid Lafoy and on a sacrifice fly ball from Luke Nolen. In the 2nd inning Hueytown scored four runs, Cole Richardson scored on an error, Payne Knight scored on a single from Spencer Jinks, and Cole Edwards and Spencer Jinks scored on a single from Luke Nolen. In the third inning, Hueytown scored four runs with Cole Richardson and Jace Evans both bringing runs in on RBIs. Jace Evans got the win in the second game allowing only one hit and four strikeouts. Hueytown scored ten hits total in the game with Reid Lafoy and Spencer Jinks both getting three hits. With the win the Hueytown Dixie Majors will now move on to represent the state of Alabama in the Dixie Majors World Series on July 29 - August 1 to be held in Monroe, Louisiana and will face the host team Monroe in the first round who beat them in the World Series last year. The Hueytown Dixie Majors 19U Allstars are made up of players from Bessemer Academy, Hueytown High School and Oak Grove High School. Those players include Cole Edwards Luke Nolen, Spencer Jinks, Josh Owen, Ethan Leatherman, Braden Ray, Payne Knight, Spencer Crane, Jace Evans, Cole Richardson, Tate Smith, Landon Moore, Brady Johnson, Reed Knight, and Reid Lafoy.
