The Bessemer City High School Purple Tigers Boys basketball team became the AHSAA Class 6a Northwest Region Runner-Ups during the AHSAA Class 6a Northwest Regionals held at Wallace State College on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. In the semifinals on the Purple Tigers on Friday, February 15, 2019, the unranked Purple Tigers defeated the #1 ranked Columbia Eagles 61 - 56. With the win, Bessemer City advanced to face the # 6 Music Shoals Trojans. The Trojans got off to an early lead finishing the first period 18 - 9. By halftime, Muscle Shoals increased their lead 34 - 20. Bessemer City couldn’t make up ground over Muscle Shoals in the 3rd period too, and the Trojans maintained their lead 46 - 33. Bessemer City tried to mourn a comeback in the 4th period, but Muscle Shoals put an end to that winning the game with the final score 64 - 52.

Stars of the game for the Bessemer City Tigers were Thaddeus Williams with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal, Kameron Harris with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal, Fernandes Brown with 8 rebounds and Jaquan Rollins with 6 rebounds.

The Bessemer City Tigers ends the 2019 season with an 18 - 8 record.

The Class 6a Northwest Regional All-Tournament Team were Bessemer City’s Kameron Harris and Thaddeus Williams, Muscle Shoals’ Michael McIntosh and Mark Sears and McAdory’s Javien Sewell.

The Northwest Regional All-Tournament VIP was Muscle Shoals’, Mark Sears.

Muscle Shoals Trojans won the Class 6a Northwest Regional All-Tournament and advances to the Class 6a Final Four at the BJCC.
