The Bessemer City Purple Tigers faced off against the (22 - 7) Muscle Shoals Trojans in the AHSAA Boys Class 6a Varsity Northwest Regional Semifinals at Wallace State College. The Trojans took a small early lead at the end of the 1st period 14 - 12. By the half, the Trojans had increased their lead of the Purple Tigers 33 - 24. Then in the 3rd period, Bessemer turned it on outscoring Muscle Shoals by 10 points and holding the Trojans to only 12 points total. The game shifted momentum with 3 seconds left in the 3rd period as Bessemer’s Thaddius Williams hit a two-point layup to give Bessemer the lead for the first time in the game with a score of 46 - 45. The Trojans fought back, trying to regain the victory, but the Purple Tigers were just too strong for them as they marched onto win by a score of 66 - 59.

Stars of the game for the Bessemer City Purple Tigers were Thaddius Williams with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, Calvin Townes with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, Eric Horn with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, Ezekiel Spann with 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist, Jaquan Rollins with 10 points, and 5 rebounds.

The (16 - 13) Bessemer City Purple Tigers will advance to the Class 6a Boys Regional Finals on Tuesday, February 18 at 2:15 pm at Wallace State to take on Class 6a # 4 (26 - 6) Hartselle Tigers.
