Bessemer Academy Junior Bailey Welch has played softball since she was 6 years old, starting at Hueytown Girls Park. Bailey has played travel ball for The Birmingham Thunderbolts for 9 years and while playing for the Thunderbolts her team finished 5th in the nation in 2015, with numerous top ten finishes in the other years. In the summer of 2018, Bailey batting average was over .400. She has played for the Bessemer Academy Lady Rebels varsity squad since the 7th grade and made the AISA All Tournament Ream in the 8th grade and was named offensive player of the year in the 2018 season. Bailey has received scholarship interest from several different SEC, ACC and Big 10 schools. After going on numerous visits she decided that South Alabama Jaguars was her future home and has verbally committed to play softball for the Jaguars.. The determining factor to making her decision to commit to South Alabama was her connection with the coaching staff and the atmosphere around campus making her feel at home.
