The Hueytown Arts Council was created to support, enhance, and grow the Arts in Hueytown, the council seeks to identify and encourage local artists, projects, and more through the exchange of ideas and resources.

“Our goal is to serve the people of Hueytown by enhancing our community’s appreciation for and awareness of the arts.” Said Jake Ware, President.  The council will be the first to acknowledge that the “arts” can mean so many things, to so many people and they hope to maintain a broad perspective of the various creative efforts in the Hueytown community.

HAC is funded solely on fundraising at this time, but efforts to acquire 501 (c)3 status are underway which will hopefully lead to additional funding through grants and donations.

The money raised from Hueytown CityFest 2018 allowed the HAC to present their first year of the Hueytown CityFest allowed the HAC to present their first Hueytown Arts Scholarship of $1000 to a deserving Hueytown High School graduate. They hope to continue to grow that scholarship next year from proceeds made from Hueytown CityFest 2019. In 2018 the HAC also hosted an Art Contest for local area school students. They will also be hosting six “Movies & Music in the Park” this summer with many exciting plans including art & photography classes, dinner theater, and art & theater camps.

“We are really excited about this opportunity, says Debbie Kiker, Board Member.  “We need the support of the community in so many ways.  Most importantly, we hope the community embraces the many creative and artistic people and events right here in Hueytown.”
