The Hueytown Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration was held on Friday, December 6, 2019, on the steps of Hueytown City Hall. The festivities were hosted by the Hueytown Chamber Of Commerce President Kathy Patton. The evening started off with an exceptional musical performance by the Hueytown High School Jazz Band as people assembled in front of the Hueytown City Hall. Next, Mrs. Patton recognized the Hueytown City Council who were in attendance which included Jay Jacks, Michael Pickens, Phifer Crane, and others. She also recognized Mayor Steve Ware, the Hueytown Police, and Fire Department. Next came one of the highlights of the evening an extraordinary performance from the Hueytown Elementary Choir lead by music teacher Mrs. Speegle. Pastor Michael Wallace from North Highlands Baptist delivered a special message about the true meaning of Christmas. Mayor Steve Ware addressed the crowd and introduced Hueytown High School Football Star and Alabama Commit Roydell Williams. The special moment had arrived as Roydell counted down the group and the Christmas Tree above City Hall, and all the lights around the city hall were lit. After the lighting, sirens started going off, and a fire engine rolled out of the fire station next to city hall, but then it stopped, and Santa came out and greeted all the kids as he made his way up to the City Hall Annex, where a special Santa’s Workshop was set up. In Santa’s Workshop, kids were able to take pictures with Santa, make arts and crafts, get their face painted, enjoy some refreshments, and more. Santa’s workshop was set up by a terrific gourd of volunteers and chamber ambassadors.
