The new Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton coming to Bessemer broke ground this morning. The new Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton will be a four-story facility with 94 rooms. The new hotel will be located at 5526 Academy Ave and will feature spacious rooms with all the modern amenities, a meeting room, a breakfast area, and more. Once open, the new hotel is expected to bring 25 new jobs to the area. Construction is set to start on October 15, 2020, and set to be completed on October 15, 2021. The new Hampton Inn & Suites is developed and owned by the Soham Group, who also owns two other properties in Bessemer, the Marriot Fairfield Inn & Suites, the Holiday Inn Express, and several other businesses. The construction team on the project is Land Star Construction. The architect is Ann Fitzgerald, with the firm Richard Rauh & Associates.
On hand for the groundbreaking was Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley, Bessemer City Council members Donna Thigpen, Jesse Matthews, and Ron Marshall, Bessemer Police Chief Mike Roper, Bessemer Fire Chief Randall McFarland, Neal Soni of the Soham Group LLC with members of his organization, Architect Ann Fitzgerald, members of Land Star Construction, Bessemer Area Chamber President Latahsa Williams, Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Charles King, and others.
