Empower December 2021

New Year, new school opportunity! A new community school is opening its doors in Bessemer Fall 2022. Empower Community School is a free, open-admission public charter school that prepares all students for college admissions, successful careers, and a life of fulfillment through academic, social, and emotional development to prepare them to excel in every endeavor. Open enrollment begins January 10th, 2022, online at empoweral.org

Empower Community School adds a fundamental schooling option for parents and students in the Birmingham metro area as the attendees can receive a prestigious, robust education free of charge. The personalized approach to learning supports the development of each scholar. It prepares them to excel in every endeavor with the courage and ability to advocate for themselves and the community.

“We are thrilled to welcome students and families to the Empower community this Fall and encourage families to apply online. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year and teaching the future leaders of our community and nation.” Dr. Anthony Oliver, Founder of Empower Community School.

Birmingham native and founder Dr. Anthony Oliver discovered his passion for education at a young age and went on to gain his Doctorate in learning organizations from Vanderbilt’s Peabody College of Education. Dr. Oliver stayed true to his roots in Birmingham as he enriched various school systems throughout Jefferson County as a mathematics teacher, athletics coach, and school leader. He also served as the founding Executive Director at Breakthrough Birmingham, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hands-on quality educational programming to underserved students.

Empower Community School strives to influence change in the community by forging collaboration between a diverse group of scholars, educators, families, and partners to educate the next generation of community leaders. Students are encouraged in their ability to advocate for themselves and the community.
