On December 3rd 2018 Cortney Coleman, Executive Director and Brian Carrington, Resident Service, Manager of the Bessemer Housing Authority met with Kathryn Strickland, Executive Director of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss collaboration and coordination of food delivery and distribution to Bessemer Housing Authority (BHA) residents.

The results of that meeting came together on December 18th, 2018 at the Bessemer Housing Authority Southside Homes location at 2501 Clarendon Ave, Bessemer, AL 35020. The Bessemer Housing Authority hosted their “pilot distribution”, they received food to serve 250-300 families, and distributed and delivered food to over 200 Bessemer Housing Authority residents and a few Bessemer City residents. The food was provided by the Community Food Bank Of Central Alabama.
