BIRMINGHAM, AL – Tonight on Wednesday, November 18 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. guests will see the Birmingham Zoo come alive for a new larger than life illuminated experience during Glow Wild: An Animal Lantern Celebration! This extraordinary event will be held on select nights during the months of November, December, and January.


Perfect for the entire family, guests will be captivated by visually stunning lantern creations of wildlife from around the world. The Zoo will sparkle and glow with hundreds of marvelous animal shapes of all sizes–from pandas, elephants, cheetahs, polar bears, and whales–soaring up to 30 feet high! Glow Wild offers something for everyone to enjoy! Take a wild ride around the Zoo on the train and go for a spin on the carousel.

Glow Wild is a limited socially-distanced event with timed tickets issued in 30-minute blocks (timed ticketing applies to sales only, guests can stay inside the Zoo for longer than 30-minutes). Event tickets are limited and on sale now with discounted pricing for Members. Admission prices vary for pre-purchased tickets online and onsite tickets at the gate. Glow Wild ride tickets for the train and carousel are an additional cost and not included in event admission. Visitors are encouraged to purchase their timed tickets and ride tickets in advance and online at birminghamzoo.com before arriving to the event.

All guests and Members of the Zoo are required to follow our health and safety guidelines, including face coverings for individuals over the age of six (6), in accordance with State of Alabama ordinance mandating the wearing of face coverings in public places. Face coverings must be worn inside the Zoo while attending the event and walking around. For the health and safety of our staff, guests, and animals, the Zoo will continue to monitor and evaluate our operations and modify our procedures as needed. Rides and attractions at the Zoo are weather dependent.
